Hello friends of the North Sea Regatta,
The time has finally arrived and we are counting down the final days until the start of our long awaited event. The first starting gun for the Vuurschepen Race will sound Tuesday May 28th at 19.00 sharp from the Estrella. Hanneke van der Marel from our title sponsor Gemeente den Haag will pull the long awaited trigger and Martin Baas from Hagoort Sails will talk you through the thrilling starting sequence while providing racing insights. We will live broadcast this exciting event though Facebook Live, so be sure to like our page North Sea Regatta.
Don’t want to miss out on the fun? You can also be on board of the Estrella! For 5 lucky winners we are giving away tickets to attend the Estrella during the start of the Vuurschepen Race. All you need to do is to attend and successfully share our NSR Inshore Racing event on facebook and we will select 5 lucky winners.
After the Vuurschepen Race, once the fleet has arrived in Harwich (UK) the crews will enjoy a fabulous lunch at the Butt & Oyster in Pin Mill on May 30th, before making their way back to Scheveningen on May 31st with the North Sea Race hosted by the Royal Ocean Racing Club. The offshore portion of the North Sea Regatta will be concluded by the award ceremony on June 2nd between 15.00 and 18.00 at Teambase Dutch Sail located on Hellingweg 9, Scheveningen. This location is home to the Dutch challenger team of the 2021 America’s Cup .
Once everyone has recovered from the offshore racing and fun in the UK, the competitors will battle it out during the inshore races off the coast of Scheveningen from June 8th through 10th. In addition to spectacular racing we have a super fun social schedule lined up for you, with live music and a food festival, but more on that later. So save the dates and stay tuned…
Live Updates for Friends and Family
At the NSR we are very keen on safety and keeping everybody informed. That’s why we have contracted YB tracking to provide all participants in de Vuurschepen Race with a satellite tracker. This tracker receives regular updates on the GPS position of the boat and transfers this position on an online map so you can track the team. You can download the YB app in your favorite app store or you can follow this link and view the race in any webbrowser. Post, share, like on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter #NSR2019 #MyNSR
