Feeling alive with Helly Hansen at the North Sea Regatta – In 1994, when the Noordzeeweek just changed her name into North Sea Regatta, Vrolijk Watersport from Scheveningen connected us to the Norwegian brand Helly Hansen. For years we worked together making the most fantastic regatta gear for volunteers, race officers, rescue workers, sailors and jury members. It all started with a jacket…
North Sea Regatta jacket
When we started to work together many years ago, Helly Hansen provided blank jackets and our in-house designer Victor Hoefnagels created the ‘North Sea Regatta look’. Race officers, rescue workers, jury members and sailors they all wore the jacket with pride, and spread the new look wherever they went. After helping us out for several days, our volunteers were also rewarded with this special jacket, which soon became the ‘North Sea Regatta jacket’, and soon people started asking where to get it.
This was the start of a blooming cooperation between Helly Hansen and the North Sea Regatta. The success of this formula led to a HH-regatta shop with a great collection which continued for 15 years!
Helly Hansen is back!
In a year of breaking traditions we’re also restoring one: Helly Hansen, a leader in technical sailing and performance ski apparel, is back! After a break of a few years we’re continuing our partnership.
Helly Hansen’s outerwear, base layers, sportswear and footwear are sold in more than 40 countries and trusted by outdoor professionals and passionate sailors around the world. The past few years the design and technical department at Helly Hansen have gone through a huge development process. They are really proud to be partner of the North Sea Regatta again which gives them the opportunity to show the sailing world in Holland what they have to offer.
Frans Sluyters is excited: “I’m very happy with Helly Hansen back on board. We can reward our volunteers with a new collectors item and make sure our people on the water stay warm when they’re outside all day. During the regatta sailors and spectators can visit the Helly Hansen shop at the venue and get their own North Sea Regatta collectors items. We’re feeling proud, alive and full of energy to get this thing started!”
